Events 2009/2010
As we grow and as time allows, Greenwood Park Gallery and Framing will incorporate more art-centered and community-wide celebrations into our schedule. Our goal is to provide a palate of tastefully framed art for all art seekers, become a venue for our local art community to showcase their works, and to support local artistic groups. Greenwood Park Gallery and Framing is involved in several local art events in Milwaukee.
For three years, Greenwood Park has showcased its frames and art in the local Garfield Avenue Blues, Jazz, Gospel & Arts Festival. This festival attracts about 150,000 people a year. The festival ran from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2009 on Garfield Avenue between 4th and 7th Streets. The 2010 event takes place on Saturday, July 17, 2010. Stop by our booth (Booth #126) each year and see what’s new on the art horizon.
“Presented by the East Town and Historic Third Ward associations, the 22-year-old Gallery Night and Day is the premier art event in Milwaukee for both the experienced art connoisseur and most beginning admirer. An evening of gallery hopping and art viewing begins on Friday and continues during the day on Saturday. Admission is free to all venues.” (http://www.historicthirdward.org/events/gallerynight.php)
In 2008, Greenwood Park participated in our first Gallery Night & Day October event where we showcased the Works of the Greer Oaks Group: David Anderson, Brad Bernard, James Dallas, Scott Pollard, Sylvester Sims, and Jeanette Wright-Claus. These African-American artists expressed their unique vision through various mixed media.
Again, in 2009, Greenwood Park participated in the Friday, October 16th (4 to 9 pm) and Saturday, October 17th (1 to 5pm) event. Greenwood Park featured Ujamaa Quilting Bee - Ethel White, Charles Queen and Vera Fitzgerald, an African-American group dedicated to preserving, educating, and promoting the quilting tradition. Wine and hors de oeuvres were served on Friday night, featuring live jazz by James Dallas. Next year’s Gallery Night and Day event occurs on Friday, October 15th and Saturday, October 16th. Check our website in April 2010 to learn more about our exciting plans.
Grand Gala Opening-Black Tie Affair
In 2010, our Grand Opening Gala will include a black tie affair. Stay tuned for more on this event.
New Years “By Invitation Only” Celebration
Greenwood Park also hosts its own (Yearly) New Years Eve event where our loyal patrons and their families and new and potential customers are treated to a night of music, cocktails and culinary delights to show our appreciation for their patronage. Our Grand Opening Gala will preclude this year’s affair.
